Bobby Johnson Obituary

The Legacy of Bobby “Papa” Johnson

Romans 14:8 states, “For if we live, we live unto the Lord: and if we die, we die unto the
Lord.” The only comfort and security we have in this life is that we belong to the Lord. Bobby
was merely lent to us as a son, a brother, a husband, a father and a friend until March 23,
2019, when the Lord called him home. All who love him will truly miss him, and we will

always carry him in our hearts.

Bobby “Papa” Johnson was welcomed into this world by Nate Johnson & Emerly Nash on January
17, 1945 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Bobby received his education in Arkansas, in 1962 at the age of 17
he moved to California.
In 1964 he married His Queen Miss. Eloise Veatrice Jones “What therefore God hath joined together,
let not man put asunder.” Mark 10:9;
Bobby worked for the port of Stockton as a Long Shore Man were, he retired after 20 plus years from
Local Union 54. He was an avid 49ers fan. His hobbies were playing golf & cards. But his Love was
taking long walks; he had the energy of a young man, even with his health condition but he fought
until the end.

Bobby’s greatest accomplishment was being a Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather & Great-
Great-Grandfather; he laid a strong foundation and raised his children with Agape Love. He gave of

himself unselfishly to ensure his children were well taken care of.
Our heavenly father saw fit to call Bobby “Papa” Johnson in his 74th season from this earth to a better
place. His passing reminds us that life is uncertain, but death is sure. Waiting on the other side is his
parents: Nate Johnson & Emerly Nash; wife: Eloise Johnson; sister: Dorothy Bailey; & brother:
Willie.
Because love is greater than death Bobby will live forever in the hearts of his children: Mary Murray,
Alysia Johnson, Tina Johnson & Bobby “Magic” Johnson; brother: Ricky, Billy; sisters: Ann and
Brenda; brother in laws: Arthur Bailey & Henry Jones; sister in law: Carolyn Hall. His legacy will
live on with his (12) grandchildren: Tecaree Hudson, Nichole Williams, Shanea Douglas, Barbara
Washington, Katema Dotson, Erick Mahan, Malik Lott, Tyrique Lott, Akaylah Douglas, Iyanna
Johnson, Jaymani Gorman, and Jelani Douglas; (16) Great Grand Children and (1) Great-Great
Grandchild, and a host of niece, nephews, family & friends.
How shall we conclude the matter of the life of Bobby “Papa” Johnson? We shall not
conclude it, for we understand that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!
We shall not conclude it, for we know that Jesus is the resurrection and the Life! We shall
not conclude it, for we understand if we too accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we will
see Bobby again on the other side where he is walking & resting in the arms of Christ Jesus.
