Douglas Howard Obituary

Douglas Ray Howard was born January 25, 1952 in French Camp, California to Pastor (Dr). Purn O.D. Howard, Sr., and Mrs. Ethlyn June Howard. He was the second eldest to this union.

Douglas graduated from Edison High School in 1970.  He then went into the Air Force, where he served two (2) terms; and after which he was honorably discharged in 1976.  Douglas continued to pursue his education in 1978 at Kinman Business University, where he graduated with a degree in General Accounting.  Douglas also majored in music, where he played numerous instruments; and his love was classical music and was very good at his gift.  He also taught music as well, while playing music at various churches in Stockton, CA.

Douglas continued to advance his self, and in doing so became a Psychiatric Technician, employed @ California State Hospital, where he remained in that field for some time.  Douglas continued to pursue more education and became a Certified Paralegal, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree for Paralegal Studies. Douglas worked in this field for a short period after which he moved to Oklahoma City, OK.  Douglas worked for the Department of Human Services for five (5) years.  Douglas resided in Oklahoma until he decided to move back to Stockton, CA., to care for his mother.  After being back in Stockton, Douglas became ill, but he did not let that stop him; he continued to care for his mother until his health prevented him from doing so.

Douglas loved his family and was the peacemaker.  He never would choose sides when his siblings would argue.  He came and did what he came to do, but little did anyone know his job would soon come to an end.  Douglas brought us all back together and he was happy and expected each one of us to continue staying together while being a strong united family.  We are all going to miss him; his voice, his distinctive laugh, his phone calls, his everything; but he left a little of himself in each of us, which is his love for his family.  We know that his body is no longer with us. But his spirit remains with us every day.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Pastor Dr. Purn O.D. Howard, Sr., sister Mrs. Ernestine Kitchens; and brother Theortis Williams.  He leaves to mourn his passing his loving and sweet mother, Mrs. Ethlyn June Howard (Stockton, CA); brother, Leo Howard (Bristow, OK); Sisters Linda Kay Beatty (Oklahoma City, OK); Deborah Livers, Vanessa Howard, (Stockton, CA); Arlene Ferrell (Robert) Rancho Cordova, CA); Stephanie Thompson (Demitri) Oklahoma City, OK; brothers Bobby Howard & Floyd Howard (Stockton, CA) youngest brother Purn O.D. Howard, Jr (Nairobi, Kenya); Aunt Willie Ruth Howard (Stockton, CA); brother-in-law Dave Kitchens (Stockton, CA); his best & closest friend, brother and confidant for over 40 years Tyrone Orndorff Stockton, CA); and most importantly he was a wonderful uncle to many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends to cherish his memories.

Douglas; my son, my brother, my uncle, my godfather, my friend; we love you, love you, love you, but God loved you best.
