Betty McPeters Martin was born in Clarksville, Red River County, Texas, to Eddie and Nellie
McPeters on November 24, 1938. She was the 2nd of nine children. She attended Cheatham High
School and graduated in 1959.

Betty attended Bryerly Chapel Baptist Church in Bryerly, Texas, and was baptized as a young
child. In July of 1973, she moved with her sweetheart, Dot Martin Jr., to Stockton, California,
where they married and enjoyed 45 years together.

When she moved to California, she attended Second Baptist Church with Pastor James Kelley.
Later, she moved her membership to Love Fellowship Baptist Church under Pastor Dr. Maurice
M. Williams, eventually succeeding to Pastor Rober Lee Hills, and now currently under Pastor
Darrell J. Armstead Sr.

Betty McPeters Martin worked at the University of the Pacific for 18 years as a Custodian. One of
her greatest skills was baking Caramel cakes, Million-Dollar-Cookies, and Banana split cake.
Betty McPeters Martin passed peacefully from this life the morning of October 23, 2025. Family
members that preceded her in death are Nellie Smith McPeters (mother), Eddie McPeters (father),
siblings Marilyn Sue, Eddie Jr., Joe McPeters, Mary McPeters Titus, Elma McPeters Beaty, Effie
McPeters Johnson and Lavion McPeters.

Betty McPeters Martin is survived by her son, Kenneth R. McPeters, daughter, Jeanette Staples,

brother, John E. McPeters, sisters-in-law Martha McPeters, Anna Martin, Hazel Martin. Daughter-
in-law Chandra D. McPeters. Grandchild, Isaiah Staples. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
