Joseph “Joe” Carl Borges passed away on May 9, 2025, at age 92. Joe was the third eldest of five children born to John Sr. and Wally Borges on December 24, 1932.  Joe is proceeded in death by his wife Frances Thayer Borges, parents John Sr. and Wally Borges, brother John Borges Jr., and sisters Zelma Borges and Theresa Baker. He is also proceeded in death by nieces Karla Ann Dutra and Elisa Ann Matthews, brother-laws Roy Baker and Ted Snyder, step-daughter Ginger Thorns, and step son-in law Doug Larsson.

Joe Borges is survived by his sister Frances Snyder; Step children Susie Larsson, the late Ginger Thorns family, Jenell Stewart, and Steve Thayer and all their families; Nieces and nephews Zee Mondo (Gary), Dick Zimmerman (Stephanie), Steven Borges (Gwen), Wayne Borges (Kimberly), Dianna Baker, Susan Baker, Shelly Zimmerman-Caulkins (Troy), Nancy Baker, Brenda Bagley (David), Karen Keckley (Dwain), Frances Brossman (Chris), Catherine Borges, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by close friends, Carl “Abe” Dorton and Joe Kiser, and many dear friends in his neighborhood.

Joe grew up working on the family dairy until he enlisted into the US Air Force in 1951. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, earning the National Defense Service and Good Conduct medals before being honorably discharged in 1956. He returned to the family dairy in Venice, California and together with his parents and family, relocated to Galt, California in 1960. He partnered with his family until his parents retired. He transitioned to his own dairy operation in Lodi, California after to his marriage with Frances Thayer Borges. They were happily married for 35 years before her death in 2013. Joe enjoyed raising pigeons, gardening, bowling, and visiting with family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held on May 29, 2025, at 10:30am at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California 95620.
