Leslie Dale Wesson, lovingly known as “Big Les,” was born on May 27, 1957, in French Camp, California, to the late Willie D. Wesson and Erma Jean Colbert. From his earliest days, Leslie carried a presence that could not be ignored—steady, protective, and full of heart. His life was a testament to strength wrapped in love.

Leslie attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School and Edison High School, and in 1976 he answered the call to serve by enlisting in the United States ARMY RESERVED. That same courage and resolve would define the way he lived his life. He was a man who stood firm—firm in his beliefs, firm in his loyalty, and firm in his love for his family.

To know Leslie was to know protection in its purest form. He was a guardian at heart—a great protector who covered his family with fierce devotion. His love was not always loud, but it was powerful. It was seen in the way he showed up, the way he defended, and the way he made those around him feel secure. His children, siblings, FAMILY and friends knew that Big Les stood with them—always.

He found joy in the rhythm of togetherness—gathered around tables playing pinochle and dominoes, laughing deeply and loving loudly. He moved through life with soul, enjoying music and dancing whenever the moment called for it.

Whether on the baseball field, playing football, or cheering faithfully for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, Leslie embraced life with passion and spirit. His laughter was rich, his stories unforgettable, and his presence larger than life.

Leslie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Willie D. Wesson and Erma Jean Colbert; his son, Lorenzo D. Wesson; two nieces; two nephews; and his cherished best friend, Bernard Brown, affectionately known as “Little Bro.” Though they have gone before him, we trust they welcomed him home with open arms.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory his loving children: Elizabeth Johnson (Larry), Justin Evans (Latrisha), Jessiah Wesson, Dontrell Wesson, KaLeslieanna Wesson, and Caleb Wesson; his devoted stepson, Joseph Robertson (Nyeema); six brothers: Charles Wesson, Emmett Wesson (Erica), Willie Wesson, Cassius Wesson (Christy), Darell Wesson, and Timothy Colbert; four sisters: Yvonne Wesson, Patricia Adams, Mary Wesson Crockett (Ronald) AND HIS BABY SISTER; LAURA ADAMS; his uncle: Donald Edward Gibbons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives are richer because of him.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the strength he instilled in us, the love he modeled, and the protection he so freely gave. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the lessons he taught, and the memories we will treasure forever.
