Marvin Dumas Jr. was born on December 6, 1955, in Norfolk Virginia to Marvin Dumas Sr. and Bedie Lewis Dumas and passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021 in Stockton, California.
Marvin relished growing up in a military family enjoying an active outdoor life across four states including Virginia, Florida, Texas, and California.
He was a talented craftsman, gifted athlete in track and the martial arts, and an avid outdoorsman. He often entertained his young family members with tales of his exploits with his brother Larry, fishing or hunting wild turkey in the panhandle wilderness near Rock Hill. For sure, Marvin was one of the best storytellers out there. An avid reader, he had an incredibly sharp mind, recalling things he read 40 years ago as if he’d read them that morning.
He is survived by his daughter Shalaina Dumas, grandson Maurice (14) sisters Patricia Dumas, Thelma Ubaka, and Barbara Francis Pace, nieces and nephews including Michelle, Carlainya, Rahsaan, Chinelo, Amaka, Kenechukwu, Kristina, Stephanie, Connie, Ray, Wilbur, Willette, Gail, Sandra, Mark, Joshua, Michael, Lawrence Jr., and Ricky, as well as sisters in law Diola Dumas and Georgia Ann Harris, as well as dozens of great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bedie, father Marvin Sr, brothers Joel Jr. and Lawrence, sister Henrietta nephew Joseph and niece Carolyn.
Special thanks to Mary Murray, for her loving care and support.
